    - There was no coffee in our room and we were charged $10 for a carafe of coffee

That said, the $360+ tab is way out of our budget. But it is an excellent dining experience for those who enjoy fine cuisine.

The highlight of our stay was the unexpected excellence of the food and the skilled service provided by the talented young waiters. It rivals the experience we had at a renowned restaurant in Florence. We will return.

I loved that I could bring my dog. The location is great for walks and the view spectacular.

I have stayed at Sooke Harbour House twice. I love the rooms, dining and very friendly, accommodating staff.

The gift shop has unique gifts and make sure you purchase a bath bomb they are wonderful.

    - I had arranged for a surprise massage for my girlfriend and the desk attendant insisted on discussing it in front of her (ruining the surprise)

We went to the Copper Room for dinner and once again we were impressed! The bison burger was AMAZING with the potatoes wedges. We had the scallops as an appetizer and they were the best scallops I have ever had! Not bad price for the quality, quantity and ambience. It is family friendly and has a 10% local discount which always helps! Completely recommend it and it is great for either a special occasion or a night out...

We had a $400 gift certificate for their dining room, so this review is of that experience.

    - Not only was the surprise ruined, our massage appointment was ignored and we were told that nobody was available on the Saturday we stayed

First off, the staff: they, by far, were the most courteous and friendly people we have ever had serve us. It was simply beautiful!

When reviewing this with the front desk, I was promised the General Manager would contact me. After no less than four followups, nobody has responded. All in all a very bad stay.

However; arriving at the quaint, welcoming Inn made the trip well worth it. The design of the facility is quite unique and totally charming. Wide hallways, hardwood floors, persian rugs everywhere and nice quality art (available for purchase) hung throughout the public areas. Our room was a delight!. Two levels, wood burning fireplace in the sitting area and direct access through a set of beautiful wood doors to the water, not 30 feet away. Absolutely loved it!!! If I recall, it was room 6. Book it when you go.

    - The $10 firewood we purchased was wet and took forever to light

    - Saturday night, the people (or employees) above us spent a good chunk of the night moving furniture across the floor

We had the 4 course meal ($75 per person) with the wine pairing (plus $140 per person). The food was absolutely fabulous! The fish and the beef were so tender that it melted in your mouth! All ingredients were local and organic and the flavours, this Review can't do it justice!

Well, October might not be the best time of year to make the trip to Sooke Harbour House. Driving that stretch of highway was most uninspiring!
